Zendaya’s Challengers press tour made its way to Milan, where the actress opted to wear not just one but two stunning white tennis minidresses to promote the project. Collaborating with her stylist, Law Roach, Zendaya has been serving up various tennis-inspired looks throughout her promotional appearances, often delving deep into the fashion archives for inspiration. The first outfit Zendaya wore in Milan was a striking A-line minidress with a collar and halter neckline. This ensemble was originally showcased during Ralph Lauren’s fall/winter 1992 ready-to-wear show, and it was once worn by supermodel Cindy Crawford. Zendaya complemented the look by leaving her shoulder-length blonde locks down, styled in classic Marilyn Monroe-esque waves.
For her appearance on the Italian show Che Tempo Che Fa, Zendaya changed into a second minidress – this time a piece with a square neck and ruched skirt by 16Arlington. She accessorized the terry cloth outfit with Bulgari jewelry, including elegant diamond stud earrings and a pendant necklace. It’s worth noting that Zendaya serves as an ambassador for the renowned jewelry brand.
Zendaya’s fashion parade didn’t stop in Milan, as she continued to make style statements during her visit to Monte Carlo, Monaco. In between attending photo calls and premieres, Zendaya took a break to watch a tennis match at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. For this occasion, she pulled off two trendy white outfits. Her first look featured a knit long-sleeve polo paired with a cream skirt from Brunello Cucinelli’s fall/winter 2024 collection, and she once again accessorized with Bulgari jewelry. The outfit she wore to watch the game had a remarkable backstory behind it, symbolizing the meticulous planning that goes into Zendaya and Roach’s outfit choices while promoting Challengers.
As Law Roach disclosed on Instagram, the team at On recreated “the ICONIC tennis white of Althea Gibson” to craft Zendaya’s two-piece set. This recreation paid homage to Gibson, the first Black American tennis player to participate at the U.S. National Championships and Wimbledon in 1950 and 1951, respectively. By donning this stylish tribute, Zendaya acknowledges and celebrates Gibson’s impactful legacy in the world of tennis and beyond.
This evolution of Zendaya’s tennis-inspired fashion looks showcases not only her sartorial versatility and creativity but also her commitment to honoring and acknowledging the icons of the past who have paved the way for her success in the entertainment industry.
