Fresh off her successful press tour for Mad Max’s Furiosa, Anya Taylor-Joy has secured another exciting role in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Bella Mackie’s novel “How to Kill Your Family.”
In this new series, Taylor-Joy will portray Grace Bernard, a 28-year-old woman on a mission to seek revenge on her wealthy father by committing murder. The show, consisting of eight episodes, promises to deliver a gory and satirical storyline that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
As revealed by Deadline, the official synopsis of the series delves into Grace’s background as the forgotten daughter of a powerful billionaire. After facing heartbreak and rejection, Grace sets out to take matters into her own hands. However, the question remains: will her vengeful actions lead to more loss and pain than she originally anticipated?
Mackie’s novel, from which the series is adapted, is written in the form of a confession. In the book, Grace’s actions stem from her father’s cruel refusal to honor her mother’s dying wish. This triggers a chain of events that culminates in Grace taking the lives of six members of her own family.
Expressing her excitement for the project, Taylor-Joy shared her eagerness to work with the talented team behind the series. She praised the producers and expressed her enthusiasm for delving into the gritty and complex character of Grace.
Mackie, the author of the original novel, also chimed in on the adaptation, highlighting Taylor-Joy’s suitability for the role of Grace. She praised the actress’s understanding of the character and expressed her satisfaction with seeing her creation come to life on screen.
As of now, Taylor-Joy is the sole cast member who has been announced for the series. While Netflix has not yet revealed a release date for “How to Kill Your Family,” fans can eagerly anticipate updates and further details about this dark and intriguing project.
