At the Kering Foundation’s third annual Caring for Women dinner in New York, celebrities Kim Kardashian and Lauren Sánchez found themselves in a high-powered bidding war over an exclusive Balenciaga Couture experience. Both power players were determined to secure the coveted experience, bantering back and forth to raise funds for the foundation. The intensity of the bidding was further heightened when another bidder joined the fray, driving the bidding war to an impressive $175,000.
In a surprising turn of events, Balenciaga decided to approve all three bidders’ offers, allowing each of them to win the exclusive experience for $175,000 each. This decision ultimately raised a total of $525,000 for the Kering Foundation. The Balenciaga Couture experience included the opportunity to select a piece from the brand’s collections presented in Paris, offering a truly unique and exclusive experience for the winners.
For those unfamiliar with the term, ‘couture’ refers to the practice of creating custom-made clothing tailored to a client’s specific requirements. Balenciaga described the experience as a timeless expression of craftsmanship, providing wearers with a sense of elegance and sophistication through expertly crafted garments that offer a unique silhouette.
The star-studded event was attended by a host of A-list celebrities, including co-hosts Kim Kardashian, Salma Hayek, and Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault. Other notable guests included Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves, and artist Urs Fischer. The event’s emcee, Gayle King, guided guests through the evening’s festivities, which also included appearances by celebrities such as Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, and Lindsay Lohan.
The Kering Foundation, established in 2008, is dedicated to combating gender-based violence and child abuse to break the cycle of intergenerational violence. The foundation provides support to local organizations that offer essential services to women and children affected by violence while also advocating for safe and supportive workplaces for survivors. Through events like the annual Caring for Women dinner, the foundation has raised millions of dollars for organizations working to end domestic violence and support women and children in need.
