Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album, released on March 29, 2024, has made history by breaking a major record on Spotify. Within just 24 hours of its release, the album became the most-streamed album in a single day in 2024. This achievement marks the first time a country album has held this title in the current year.
In addition to its success on Spotify, Cowboy Carter has also made waves on Amazon Music. The album has claimed the record for the most first-day streams globally on Amazon Music when compared to any of Beyoncé’s other albums. Furthermore, it holds the title for the most first-day streams for a country album by a female artist in the history of Amazon Music.
One of the standout tracks from the album, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” has garnered massive success, with over 200 million streams on Spotify even before the full record was released. Beyoncé expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support on Instagram, particularly highlighting her achievement as the first Black woman to have the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Reflecting on the album’s creation process, Beyoncé shared a personal insight into the inspiration behind Cowboy Carter. She revealed that the album took over five years to come to fruition, stemming from an experience where she felt unwelcome in the country music scene. This encounter prompted her to delve deeper into the genre’s rich history, leading to a collection of songs that aim to unite listeners globally.
Cowboy Carter features a diverse range of collaborations and covers, showcasing the talents of artists such as Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Linda Martell, Tanner Adell, Willie Jones, Raphael Saadiq, The-Dream, and Shaboozey. This collaborative effort adds depth and diversity to the album, further solidifying Beyoncé’s position as a versatile and boundary-breaking artist in the music industry.
